Here's a quick review to make your transition a smooth one.

The new farebox looks almost the same as the old farebox, but has a number of new features.

The first thing you will notice is the passenger display panel.

There's a slot where you drop coins; where you feed bills; a slot where you'll insert your DARTCard; and a reader where you'll swipe a daily pass.
Look at the top of the new farebox and its passenger display panel. Here you can view the details of your transaction. When using a DARTCard, it displays the initial amount of money you have on your card, the deducted fare, and the remaining balance after the fare is deducted.

There's a slot for coins, a slot for bills, a slot where you'll insert your DARTCard, and a reader where you'll swipe a daily pass.

When using coins, please drop them in one at a time to avoid a jam.

When inserting bills, they have to be flat and unfolded. Like vending machines, wrinkled, folded, or crumpled bills will be rejected.

DARTCards must be inserted into the farecard insertion slot. The date, transaction, and remaining value will still be printed on the back of the card, but now, you'll be able to see the same information on the passenger display panel.

When purchasing a daily pass, remember to first let the driver know of your intentions.

This message means that a daily pass has been issued. The next time you use your daily pass, you can glide it through the swipe reader.  Swipe your pass from the front of the farebox toward the back, with the magnetic stripe down and facing you.

"Transfer Not Valid"
This message means that your daily pass has either expired, or was used on this bus more than once within the last ten minutes; or it could mean that it is a DARTCard and should be inserted rather than swiped.

We hope that this review was helpful. Remember that our drivers are there to assist you.  If you have any questions when you're using the new fareboxes, please just ask!

Thank you for riding DART!
